Help! I have a question about birth control.

I took birth control for the first time yesterday at 7 in the morning. I've come to realize that taking it at noon would be more convenient. Should I start taking it at noon on the second day (today)?

Hey nervous_wreck,

Although taking your birth control at the same time everyday will provide the most effective contraception, taking it a few hours later one day (and then consistently at that time after that), shouldn't do much in the way of effectiveness. Depending on what kind of pill you are taking (progestin only or combination), it can have a greater effect. If you're on a progestin only pill, you'll want to use back-up contraception for the next 48 hrs if you are sexually active.

Great job staying aware and being cautious!
