Hi, I am 26 years old and am irregular with my periods. However I usually get them around the end of the month or beginning of the next. I would say within the first two weeks of the month at the latest.

Anyway, I had my last period 2/9 and ended 2/14. I had sex with my bf several times between the 14th and 20th. After that we still had sex however he would not cum inside me. However once or twice he may have accidently allowed a small amount to get in but I would urinate right after. Is it possible to push all the sperm out by urinating?

It's now 3/18 and no period. My breasts are a little sensitive, however I do not feel fatigue or cramps which I usually get before my period.

I have been stressing and so I took 3 pregnancy tests and they came back positive. Am I definately pregnant? Is it possible that it can show positive bc I am stressing and not really pregnant? How can I tell for sure?

Hi Alison!
I'm sorry for the confusion.
I mean, from the end of my last menstruation to when I began taking Alesse again, I didn't have sex. Afterwards, I did. I thought that's what Diane's question was, but I misunderstand things quite often on the Internet.
My last period started on June 11, so I'm five days late. I began having sex again on June 22nd. What I was trying to clear up was that I didn't have any sex from the end of my last period to when I began taking my regular prescription again.

Hey there, again!

Thanks for all your detail. It does help a lot.

If I were you, I would make a doctor's appointment as soon as I could, but I would continue taking my pills as normal until then. But please know I have no medical training. That's just what I would do since the chance of being pregnant seems so remote.

The main reasons:
1. During the time when you missed pills and directly afterward, you didn't have sex. So you weren't pregnant then.
2. You didn't have sex between your last period and your new prescription. So since you're on birth control, your chance of being pregnant is about 3%. That still makes it possible, but much less likely.
3. If you're not pregnant and you stop the pills, you risk getting your cycle even more screwed up.

So: Less worry, breathe, and call the doctor's office. Today. OK?

Hi! I began taking Alesse birth control pills around the end of April. I am usually slightly irregular, and in May I began my period around the beginning of the fourth week. It was definitely less painful and there was less blood, and I also lasted around 5 days (without bc my period lasts 7-8 days). In June I went on a two week trip out of the country, and the maids accidentally threw away my bc pills! Two days later I was able to get Lessina, apparently the same thing as Alesse, just a different brand (so my doctor said...). I took two pills, and the next day (or the day after, I can't remember), I began my period. That gave me around a 21-day cycle, which very much shocked me, since I was planning it a week later. During the first day, I spotted a bit, but THIS period lasted eight days with heavy bleeding, each day getting worse. (Without birth control, my first day was always the heaviest, and I have never spotted in the past.)
I took almost two weeks worth of pills of Lessina while on the trip, and when I got back home my packet had reached the last day, so I bought my regular prescription, Alesse. I go by the 28-day cycle, and I am 4 or 5 days late. I had sex around 4 days after taking my regular Alesse prescription again. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and got back negative. I am very worried and would like to understand what's happening to me.
I was wondering if I could now be pregnant from this whole mess.

Hi, Shon. Welcome to EmpowHer!

If your period comes on the 25th every month, count your blessings! How nice it must be to know when it will arrive! (I have always been irregular except when I was on the pill).

If you always get your period on the 25th, then that is Day 1 of your cycle, and you have cycles that are 30 to 31 days long. In general, women ovulate 14 days before they start their next period. So I would suspect that you are ovulating somewhere around the 10th or 11th of each month that you start on the 25th.

Do you know how to watch your cervical mucus for signs that you are ovulating? The cervical mucus is the discharge you get from your vagina during the month. Usually it is sort of whitish and sticky. But when you are ovulating, it changes to be clear and stretchy. Sort of like an egg white. That's when you're most fertile.

Good luck and happy working on your new "project!"

hey my name is kayla,
last month my periods were randomly 22 days apart, i got my period on may 14 and then got it again on june 4, when usually its around 28-30 days apart, i was on the pill but went off of it in march because i felt i was gaining weight. my boyfriend and i have still been having sex but with a condom that has never broke. it has now been 35 days since my last period but i am curious if it is later because i had my last period earlier? or if i may be pregnant? even though the condom has never broken and we always check if any came split out. i am pretty worried and wondering if this is at all normal?

Hi, Kayla. Glad to meet you, and welcome to EmpowHer!

It sounds like you and your boyfriend have been pretty responsible about trying to have protected sex even when you decided you didn't like the side effects of the birth control. I want to applaud you for that.

It's very normal to, for no reason, suddenly have a few really irregular periods. Late, early, etc. There are so many things in life that affect our hormones, and our hormones affect our periods. When we're on birth control, we get really used to that convenient 28-day cycle, don't we? But then when we go off the pill, and our periods are all over the place, our bodies don't really keep to that same schedule.

My thought is that since you've never had a broken condom, you're most likely NOT pregnant, just late. Clearly, your hormones are a bit off schedule, since you had a cycle that was 22 days and now it's been 35. That can happen sometimes when we are under a lot of stress (have you been?) or when we are dealing with a lot in our lives (moves, changes, a change in our level of activity, diet, medicine, etc).

If it would help you relieve your worries, you can always take a home pregnancy test to be sure. But with perfect condom use (and "perfect" means you use it 100 percent of the time, and it's always on correctly, with empty space at the top for the ejaculate), failure rate is between 2 to 3 percent. That's pretty low.

Relax a bit if you can, and try not to worry. If a few more days go by and you're still stressed, try an HPT. Please come back and update us, and if there's anything more we can do for you, don't hestitate to ask.

Nichole,

How long are your cycles, normally? From May 27 to today is 35 days. If your cycles are normally 28 days long, that would make you about seven days late; if they are normally 30 days long, you'd be about five days late, etc. So sure, it's absolutely possible that you are pregnant. Anytime you have unprotected sex you have a chance of getting pregnant, and the more times you try, the better a chance you have.

The earliest pregnancy signs do not tend to be hunger or lower back pain. There can be some mild cramping at the time of implantation, but it usually is not severe. Usually the first symptoms of early pregnancy are swollen and tender breasts and fatigue that is more than usual. Soon after that might come nausea or bloating, though not all women experience the symptoms the same way.

Good luck to you -- take a pregnancy test soon and find out for sure!

Hey My name is Nichole,
I had my last period on May 27, and now it is July 1. I have been having a lot of uncomfortable cramping in my stomach and lower back pain, I seem to be more hungry then normal, for about the past week and a half/2 weeks. Me and my boyfriend have had unprotected sex roughly 4 times, and he went in me. I am not on the pill or anything, I am trying to get pregnant. I am just wondering if there is a possibility I could be pregnant? Is my period late, or is this normal?
