Hi, I took postinor 2 and bleeding after few days. Is that consider as period? After the bleeding will the sperm still survive? How long can a sperm survive in female body and my period has delayed for 12 days now?

Hi Anon

Bleeding a few days to a week after taking P2 is a very common side effect. It's not a regular menstrual period since it's due to the large dose of hormones P2 contains and you may not get your period an average of 28 days later.

Sperm can survive in the body up to 5 days - bleeding would likely clear it out.

A delayed period is common after taking emergency contraception. It can take a full month to get back to normal.
Emergency contraception is up to 95% effective.
