Q:

Hi there! I just wanted to know if I had a pneumonia shot when I was 65 or 66, I can't remember, do I need one this year along with my flu shot? I am 70 now.

Hello. Thank you for writing.

For adults who are 65 and over and are otherwise healthy, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention currently recommend a one-time vaccination with the pneumonia shot and no booster shots. However, many doctors do give a second shot 5 to 10 years after the first shot. Your doctor can give you his or her opinion on this.
