Hi there, I would like to know abou the period of communicability of HSV and Gonorrhea. After treatment is initiated and/or symptoms disappear, is the person still contagious? Thank You

Hi anmarz,
Thanks for your question!

Gonorrhea is fully treatable and curable by using medications like

Taking these medications will cure gonorrhea and it cannot be passed to anyone else but medications must be taken exactly as directed. For more, read our gonorrhea page here: http://www.empowher.com/condition/gonorrhea

There is no cure for genital herpes. A person will often be on medication (like Valtrex) for outbreaks or some take a pill everyday to try to prevent outbreaks. A person is more likely to contract herpes from someone with an active outbreak but a person with no symptoms at all can still pass herpes to a person at any stage in their lives since they will always have the virus in their system (even if it's dormant).

I hope this helps and thanks for writing!
