How to break terrible eating habits?

I am about 5ft 1inch in height, and I believe I'm extremely overweight (about 160 lbs). I don't eat a lot, but my eating habits are disgusting. I don't eat much for breakfast nor lunch most of the time but for dinner I eat a lot and usually right before bed. I recognize that this may be the problem and I want to change but its extremely hard. I don't want to start some ridiculous diet because the weight will come back and I just don't want to go through that added stress. I realize eating healthy is key, but eating healthy can cost a lot.

What could be recommended to break my eating habits?, breakfast and lunch is tricky because i work about 2hrs away from home and to prepare a healthy breakfast is not time conducive while lunch is just the same (don't ask).

Thanks for the advice. My earlier comments were never made to be excuses. I just never wanted to hear eat a healthy breakfast, eat lunch etc, this I already know. Looking for a tried and proven routine that have help others break into a healthy habit and have seen improvements. Thanks again.

Hi Kennie,

We would love to guide you the right way with your diet but in your post alone you've given a bunch of excuses as to why we shouldn't tell you to eat healthy-- you can't prepare lunch, you can't afford healthy foods... and you have already defeated yourself by saying that you will go back to your old eating habits if you try something totally out of your element. I don't want to sound like I'm being tough on you but in order to change your eating habits, you need to be mentally prepared to change the way you eat and realize that this will not be easy at times, it will take effort on your part, and that it's not as detrimental to your pockets as you may think it is.

I'm confused about why you can't eat breakfast prior to leaving the house and prepare lunch the night before to take with you to work?

If you want to start off slowly, cut the chips, sodas, and candy. Replace those with water, fruit juices, fruits, vegetables, and melba toast. You must eat breakfast, even if it is a fruit and tea/coffee or Juice, egg and a slice of wheat bread. The key is to start off with a balanced diet-- meaning, DEFINITELY breakfast, lunch, dinner, and at least one snack in between meals-- 2 if you're really committed. Your meals, although more than what you normally eat, should be smaller in size and of course a meal prepared at home (such as a tuna sandwich, lets say) is much healthier than a burger or frozen meal.

For exercise, walk 30 minutes 3-4 times a week.

Lets start with this-- and you let me know within a week how it's going.

Good Luck,

Rosa
