After a medical checkup, your doctor might advise changing certain behaviors and managing the medical conditions that may be causing it. Some things that might be recommended are:
Stop smoking cigarettes (if you smoke).
Keep your blood pressure and cholesterol in a healthy range.
Exercise regularly.
Avoid long periods of immobility.
Elevate your legs when you can.
Compression hose and comfortable shoes.
