Hi Anon

Thanks for your question and for being a good friend.

Depending on the level of depression (depression can be anything from the blues to feeling suicidal), be there for her when she needs to talk or if she could do with other kinds of help like with children, her home or yard. These kinds of things can be overwhelming for someone with depression.

It's important to encourage your friend to seek help - talk therapy, medication or a combination can really help.

Encourage her to get an early night every night but to get up every morning, shower and get ready for the day, even if she is staying home. If she is on medication for depression, ensure she takes it everyday.

If you suspect things are getting worse, you can accompany her to see a medical professional.
