Last year November i haf bleeding and extreme pain. I went to the doctor and did two pregnacy test that came back postive. Because of my extreme pain and bleeding, i was admitted in the hospital for a few days under the suspection that i was micarrying at 7 weeks. However i did an ultra sound that sugested it was a ruptured ovarian cyst. I would like to know if the doctors or the ultra sound was wrong.

Hi Anonymous and thanks for your question.

It sounds like you've been through a lot. We hope you're feeling better now.

We aren't really able to tell you if the doctors were "wrong." They may have considered a variety of things that could have caused your symptoms, including a miscarriage, and then used the ultrasound imaging as part of the diagnostic process.

It sounds like you haven't really been given enough information since you said the ultrasound "suggested" a ruptured ovarian cyst. I would go back to your doctor, ask for copies of your records, and ask for a clear cut explanation of the ultrasound findings as well as the pregnancy test results. Your medical providers haven't given you enough information about what is going on with your body, and you deserve to have those answers and to also know if there are any next steps you need to take in order to maintain good health.

It can be hard to be assertive with doctors, but you need to do so for the sake of your health. Will you let us know what you do and what happens. We wish the best for you.

Regards,

Pam

Thank you for your response Pam. I was going through a very difficult time when the doctors at first told me that i was pregnant and had miscarried. Then after five days in the hospital, the ultra sound showed a ruptured ovarian cyst that was leaking fluid and tissues. I was upset because the doctors made me believe i had lost my baby. Today, im trying to cope with the help of a counselor.

Hi anon, and thanks for writing back. Now I better understand what happened. You've certainly been through an emotional roller coaster and I'm really glad that you're getting help from a counselor. I hope that you got the right medical care for your ruptured cyst and that you're feeling better physically now. Feeling better emotionally will probably take quite some time though. Please be good to yourself and take care as best you can. I'm truly sorry you had such a horrible and upsetting experience. Best, Pam
