Hello! I am almost finish with my first pack of BC pills. I started taking it on July 9 which was the first day of my period. On July 30, I had another period ( during my 2nd inactive pill ). Does it mean the pill worked at preventing pregnancy? I am just reading on the net from several experienced pill users that pills dont take effect immediately and a back up method should be used for at least few months. The leaflet that goes with the pill, though, says no need for back up bc method if pill is taken on the first day of period. Please I need an input. Thank you.

Hello kf_dvila

Thank you for writing.

There is no need to use a backup method if the pills you are using were started at the end of your menstrual period. As in, not a Sunday start. You got your bleeding as expected. No birth control needs a back up of several months.
Read the paperwork that comes with your pill packet to know more.
Best,
Susan
