Q:

How long could a athlete and especially a pro one play with a sports hernia (groin) injury before giving into it, especially with playing through it with all, any, and/or conservative treatments thats out there?

Hi Jessica,

Welcome back to EmpowHER. Sports hernia can be treated by strengthening the muscles but you'll need the help of a physiotherapist for this. Athletes will need to stop playing sports during the treatment in order for it to be effective. Unfortunately, most of the time, surgery is necessary in order to eliminate the pain from either of these hernias.

Best,

Daisy
