I had a D&C surgery done on 3/13/10 and went to the doctor on 4/23/10 to have an IUD put in and she said my cervix was not closed that it was still dialated so she couldn't put one in. I was just wondering if its normal for my cervix not to be closed a little longer than a month after the D&C. Please help

CSlocum,

Thanks for your post and welcome to EmpowHer.

Normally, the cervix takes at least 2 weeks to close or begin closing but keep in mind that not all women are the same. Though it may take woman A 3-4 weeks for her cervix to be fully closed, it may take woman B 4-6 weeks for hers to be fully closed. There is nothing wrong with either and if your doctor was concerned about this she would have looked into it further. Don't stress over this, give it time-- good luck at your next appointment.
