How long does the pain last after lumbar back surgery? Re: spinal stenosis, disc and unpunching a nerve. I had the surgery July 20,2017 my back is still tightening and hurting bad and it is August 11,2017

Recovery from this kind of surgery can vary from patient to patient depending on age and general health. Generally, you will not be able to return to activities as quickly. It takes at least 3 to 4 months after surgery for bones to heal well, and healing may continue for at least a year. If you had a spinal fusion, you will probably be off work for 4 to 6 weeks (if you are young and healthy and your job is not very strenuous). Some people (after a reasonable time) may have considerably less pain after this kind of surgery (even if not 100 % pain-free). What has your doctor said? You should speak to him or her about this if you haven't, especially if you feel your pain has not eased much or at all.
