HOW SOON CAN I HAVE BARIATRIC SURGERY?

I AM 43 AND HAVE BEEN OVER WEIGHT MY ENTIRE ADULT LIFE. I RECENTLY GAINED THE LAST 50 POUNDS I AM CARRYING AROUND AND I CAN'T LOOSE A POUND. I HAVE A THYROID CONDITION, FOR WHICH A TAKE A DAILY MEDICATION (LEVOTHYROIXINE). I FEEL TIRED ALL DAY AND SLEEPY VERY OFTEN. I WEIGH 232LBS. AND I FEEL AS IF I AM JUST GAINING MORE. PLEASE HELP.

Before bariatric surgery is performed, you must be evaluated by a surgeon, who is trained in this field. A psychological evaluation is done prior to approval of the procedure. Your overall health status plays a factor in determining if you are a candidate.

I suggest you talk with your primary care physician, who can refer you to a bariatric surgery center.
