How soon can I take a test?

I have been on Trinessa for a little over a year. The first day of my last period was June 12. I was supposed to start a new packet on June 13. I didn't start it until the 17th or the 18th. From the 18th of June till now I have had sex pretty often. I know my chances of pregnancy are high, but how soon can I take a test?
I also am not suppose to start my period for about another week, and I am already spotting. I know some women can spot through out a pregnancy, or still have a period during pregnancy. Should I still take a test to be safe?

Hi Laura

The CDC recommends waiting until one week after a missed period for the best accuracy if it is a home pregnancy test. They have a great information page on this: http://www.womenshealth.gov/faq/pregnancy-tests.cfm.

We also get lots of questions on this topic that may help you: https://www.empowher.com/condition/pregnancy.

Thanks for the question, and for visiting the site.
