Q:

HPV - Remains Forever

I read the article: Understanding Whether Or Not HPV Goes Away On Its Own Or Not - An Editorial. Are these the messages of the article?:
1. HPV remains forever in the system. Even when the symptoms of warts ceased to recur, it remains there.
2. The body immune system is unable to eliminate {clear} the virus no matter what are the circumstances, e.g. time.
3. Even the Pap Smears and HPV test shows negative results, HPV are hidden in the system.

I find that even the article gave a very detailed explanations, there are no confirmation words or conclusion made regarding the subject, which is the fundamental question everybody is asking.

As with everyone, I hope that with the symptom of warts ceased for a year, my body immune system had finally eliminate the virus from the body and I am a 'clean' person again. Some of the articles on the Net are saying so, and so do some of the physicians and doctors. The question is, to what extend that this statement remains true? That's what everyone is hoping to know.

Thank you.

Hi Anonymous,

In response to your question-- yes, as Bonnie stated, HPV will always remain in your body even if it is dormant. When we say that HPV will go away on its own, what we mean is that any symptom of it will no longer be seen because it can go dormant for year or forever without you ever seeing any active symptoms ever again.

What we do want you to understand is that if you have been diagnosed with HPV and you are "cleared" after a follow up then you are okay but will need to use protection as you may still pass on genital warts without having any symptoms--this doesn't make you a dirty person. You need to continue going to your gynecologist every 6 months just like everybody else. If it helps you understand this better..when you get a cold, you go to your doctor and he says "you have a common cold-- you can take this to make it better and then it will go away" When he says it will go away, it really just goes dormant. That's why you can get a common cold once a year, twice a year, every four years, or once in a blue moon. HPV also goes dormant in your body but can manifest itself once again-- unless it is a different strain of HPV, this doesn't mean that you have it again, it is just active once more.

I hope this clarifies things for you,

Rosa
