I am a 26 year old woman. I recently found out I have genital herpes hsv2. I been depressed and crying because this was my fault for a one night drunken stand with a man. My mind is racing I need more answers. I am in love with a woman who lives in another state. We will soon be getting married and yet to have sexual actions. I cant seem to find what I am looking for exactly. Can a woman with hsv2 still have sex and oral sex with another woman. I am not sure how this will work. I havent told her yet because I need to tell her her in person. We had talked before I told her I wasnt a very sexual person. She has told me its not important. But I still need answers to ease my mind. please.

Sorry to hear of your predicament. You can prevent herpes by practicing safe sex. A condom is easy and inexpensive to use. You can have a very satisfying sex life and have HSV2. The drug Acyclovir is commonly prescribed to lessen or prevent outbreaks. Lysine may also help but talk with an MD about using multiple drugs to fight outbreaks. Common triggers are fatigue, stress, eating high argenine foods like nuts, seeds, or lots of carbos. Be honest with your partner about your outbreak and educate yourself & them about risks.

Dani_87,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Genital Herpes is transmitted from one person to another during sexual activity. Genital herpes causes blisters or groups of small open sores on and around the genitals in both men and women. Genital herpes cannot be cured; however, there are medications that can be prescribed to treat outbreaks and minimize the symptoms.  During an outbreak you should avoid any sexual contact when sores are present. It is highly contagious.
