Can you tell us more about what the tests revealed with your relatives cardiomyopathy? I am so sorry to hear this, and it is wonderful that you are taking the initiative to conduct research on this condition.
Hypotropic cardiomyopathy has different levels of severity, depending on many factors that are individual to each person. Your relatives' personal tests results would provide more indication of the severity of the condition than we are able to speculate.
There are many treatment options available, including lifesyle changes, surgical procedures and medications: EmpowHER: Cardiomyopathy treatment options
You asked specifically about medications:
* Diuretics—to eliminate extra fluid
* ACE inhibitors—to help relax blood vessels, lower blood pressure, and decrease the heart's workload
* Digitalis—to slow and regulate the heart rate, and modestly increase its force of contractions
* Calcium channel blockers—to lower blood pressure and relax the heart
* Beta blockers—to slow the heart and limit disease progression
* Anti-arrhythmia agents—to prevent irregular heart rhythms
* Immune system suppressants—including steroids (depending on underlying cause)
Please let us know what additional questions you have, and we would be interested in hearing more about what the tests have shown in your relative's condition. Do you live near your relative?
