is hysterectomy advised if endometruim thickness is 8.2 mm

i am 54 yrs and menopause d early at 42.i had post menopausal bleeding 2 months back and they have advised for removal of uterus although my family doctor has advised against it.

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thanks for your question.   A thickened endometrium may cause postmenopausal bleeding.  An endometrial biopsy is needed to determine whether the thickened endometrium is due to endometrial cancer.  It might be good to ask your doctor about a biopsy, some studies have indicated patients with endometrial carcinoma was 18.4 +/- 8.2 mm.
