Q:

I am 26 and have an extremely low sex drive. How can I get my hormones checked? Where should I start?

Dear Anon, thank you for sharing your health concern. The first you should do is make an appointment with your GYN doctor. He/she will probably run some blood tests to check your hormone levels. Libido (or sexual drive) is linked to testosterone levels which women also produce. There are many other causes linked to low sex drive besides those of physiological nature. It is a common problem in modern times. There are emotional issues, life stress, poor nutrition, low stamina, as other possible causes. Your GYN may suggest alternative treatment options to address emotional or stress-related root causes. I suggest opting for natural stress reduction techniques, better nutrition and getting some exercise to build stamina. Proper functioning of hormones is linked to healthy life habits as well.
