I am 40years old. I am a mom of 3 children my youngest being 3 years old. I have experienced excessive hair loss to the point of not being able to wear black. I know it's normal to lose hair daily but if I even touch my hair 10-20 fall out. My pillow is covered in the am and when I wash it it falls out by the handful. It's from the root. Thank goodness I have thick hair. I am cold a lot of the time but not always. My skin is dry. I have had depression and little patience lately. I really do not lead a stressful life. I am a few pounds overweight. The most concerning is my memory. I am forgetting simple steps in every day tasks. I feel as if I've lost my mind and embarrassed of my lack of recall. Things I should know I cannot remember when asked. My mother died of a brain tumor and am beginning to fear I might have one. I do not wish to overreact. I have a physical next week with my MD but lab tests in past always come back normal such as thyroid, cbc and cmp. I expect the same this time. I appreciate any advice you can share with me. Also as far as reproductive health my periods have always been heavy. I now experience breast tenderness a week prior which I did not before and I'm emotional that week before. They are closer together than they used to be and my gyn just says that comes with getting older.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. It appears that you have many different concerns so following up with a physician would certainly help. If you think your doctor is not taking your symptoms seriously, I would certainly recommend getting a second opinion.

Many of the things that you are experiencing may certainly be stress related and that would be my first concern with your hair loss, etc.

We cannot diagnose you on here, rather offer you some suggestions and I would certainly request that you follow up with your physician.

Please keep us posted.

Missie
