Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your question and welcome to EmpowHer. Most research suggests that you have not really hit menopause until you miss a period for 12 months. You were so close at the 10 month mark so it sounds as if you are experiencing the obvious symptoms of menopause.

In reference to your question about Iodine, the National Institute of Health does not mention anything specific about iodine and your menstrual cycle. There is certainly a connection in regard to thyroid issues with a deficiency with iodine in your diet. You can read the full information chart here http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Iodine-HealthProfessional/.

Unfortunately, weight gain is often common with menopausal symptoms also. You can read more about menopause on our site here https://www.empowher.com/condition/menopause.

If you have any concerns, certainly contact your physician, but if we can be of any more assistance to you, please let us know.

Sincerely,
Missie
