Hi Allie1954,
Thank you for your post and Welcome!
It is very important that you know what your thyroid level is. The problem is that when doctors do lab work, there is a range that they are looking for. Now you could be on the high end of that range and still be considered normal. This is probably why you are still losing a considerable amount of hair. The goal with therapy, is to not only bring you to a normal level but to bring you to the mid-point of that normal range.
Continue taking your medication as prescribed. On your next appointment, ask your doctor what your exact lab results were.

I am 55 and have been taking 75mg of Synthroid for 4 months, and have probably lost close to half my hair. I am very frightened. Will it stop falling out? Will it ever grow back?

Hi Seeking,
Have you been to your doctor to see if Synthroid is helping with your thyroid levels? The good news is that it can grow back once your hormones are back to normal.
Please keep us updated,
Rosa
