Hello Anonymous,
Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for coming to us with your question.
Has your physician ever told you not to paint your toenails? Is your blood sugar level under control? Do you have any problems or issues with your toenails?
I do not think there would be a problem if you painted your toenails. However, if you choose to have this done as part of a pedicure in a salon, there are things you need to be aware of.
Bring your own nail grooming equipment. Be certain the technician is trained in diabetic nail care. Be alert to the cleanliness of the salon and is it licensed.
Steps you can take include check your feet daily, trim your toenails straight across and file the edges with an emery board or nail file and be sure your healthcare provider performs a complete foot exam at least annually - more often if you have foot problems.
