I know it is frustrating for many women who are trying to conceive, especially when their menstrual cycles are irregular.

We will need quite a bit more information from you, in order to provide some guidance. Can you tell us:
- How old are you?
- How long you have been trying to conceive?
- What type of STD you were diagnosed with 5 years ago? How was it treated, and are you still undergoing treatment?
- Can you describe what you mean by your menstrual cycle "not being normal"?
- Have you tried any fertility awareness methods?

That is great news that your STD was a bacterial infection, as it is treatable with antibiotics. Assuming you sought treatment promptly, were treated appropriately, and there were no complications, then it is unlikely that this one case of chlamydia would lead to infertility; it is actually UNtreated chlamydia that may lead to PID (pelvic inflammatory disease), which can lead to infertility. Do you still have any symptoms of chlamydia, and was your partner also treated?

If you have irregular menstrual cycles, meaning that the length of time between periods fluctuates, you are not alone! There are other types of irregular menstrual cycles (the reason I asked you to explain what you meant that they are not "normal"; I'm still not sure what "irregular" means to you). Assuming you are just referring to the length of cycles, then you may be interested in trying a fertility awareness method (FAM) or Natural Family Planning. Have you also talked with your OB/GYN before trying to conceive? If not, this is an excellent time to talk with your doctor to have a physical evaluation, and also learn about your options.
