I guess the medicine the first time didn't work. She said she saw yeast and took the culture again. She called in the prescription today and i haven't gone to pick it up yet. Should i wait until after my period (it should start any day now) to begin the vaginal gel or should i start it now?

Also, my labia is red. and itchy. But i was tested for STDs and they all came back negative when she took the first culture. Any idea what this is?

Hi Anonymous,
Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. What did the doctor prescribe? Is it an oral medication, or suppository? A topical cream could still be used, just like an oral medication could too, but I'm not sure about the suppository if you are expecting your period. You may want to call your doctor's office and ask them what they suggest, or ask your pharmacist when you pick up the prescription. Be sure to follow up on this and get it treated so it won't persist and cause you more discomfort.
Good luck and let us know how you're doing.
