Q:

I had a lumpectomy. Margins were clear, lymph nodes were clear, but there was a suspicious mass left. A Mastectomy and reconstruction were performed. Margins again are clear. Do I need Chemo?

Hi Anon -

Thanks for your question and welcome to EmpowHER. It sounds like you've been through a lot with the lumpectomy, mastectomy and reconstruction.

Chemotherapy treatments are tailored specifically for each person's unique situation.Have you discussed this with your oncologist? He or she knows your entire medical history, your specific type of breast cancer, your genetic risk and the many other factors that would influence next steps. We can't advise you on whether you will need chemo or not, that's a discussion you need to have with your oncologist and I hope you will do so soon.

Best regards,

Pat
