I had my period that finished last week and 2 days later I have sore breasts, back pain, heart burn, feeling tired and can smell things more .Can I still be pregnant and thought I had a period but it wasn't ? I have a 1 year old who when I carried him from finding out till I had him 7 months I bled every time I went to the loo they said my placenta was low . What do I do? Shall I take a test or wait a while? Or could it be something else?

Hello!
I had protected sex a few times before my period last month. My period lasted for 5 days. A few days after my period ended I had a bit of dark blood spotting. I should be getting my period next week. I feel bloated but i don't know if it's from my period or pregnant. Should I be worried about being pregnant?

Hello Anonymous,

There would be a concern if you have had unprotected intercourse since your last period and this month's period is late. Otherwise, just relax. The bloating can be premenstrual and not a sign of pregnancy.

I had protective sex before my period I got my period on Sept 29 and it ended around Oct 4.
5 Days later I got spotting like really dark red brown discharge like. That lasted for 2 days. Now Im getting back pains. Is it possible that I'm pregnant? I haven't had sex since before my period.

Hello Anonymous,

Pregnancy does not seem likely considering you had a normal period after protected sex.

This dark spotting would not have been implantation bleeding.

Consider reaching out to your gynecologist to discuss the spotting after your period and back pain.

I'm worried that I may be pregnant but I'm unsure due to the fact the symptoms of pregnancy are the same as PMS. My last period was the 4th of September and I had unprotected sex on the 10th and around the 14th. Around the end of September, I felt nauseous, dizzy, faint, headaches, cramping, bloating, and gas. It's now October 6th and I have yet to get my period, however, I do get irregular periods...My only symptoms now are headaches, fatigue, lower back cramping, bloating, lack of appetite, and constipation.

Hello Anonymous,

A pregnancy test would be the first step to answering your question.

I understand that with an irregular menstrual cycle it is a challenge to know when to test.

How long was your longest menstrual cycle? Based on that, once you are late beyond that, test.

Maryann

Hi,
I have been TTC since June of this year. I removed my IUD in June and immediately started bcp to regulate my period. My periods are normally 5-6 days long but this month it started 2 days late (on a Sunday) and only lasted until early early Tuesday morning. It wasn't as heavy as it normally is either. Since then I've had cramping in my back and stomach and today I am a little nauseous and light headed. My bf and I had sex the day before ovulation at the beginning of the month and the Wednesday before my period started.

Hello Anonymous,

I understand that you are taking birth control pills to regulate your menstrual cycle. But, as you know birth control pills, if taken consistently, will prevent pregnancy.

The change in your recent period might be related to starting birth control pills and the cause of your irregular menstrual cycle. Discuss this with your gynecologist, who knows you.

Regards,
Maryann
