Hi Anon,

Thank you for replying back. Spotting is just a part of menstruation and nothing to be alarmed about unless it becomes more frequent or if there is pain.

In the case of being pregnant, women can experience implantation bleeding. According to the American Pregnancy Association website, implantation occurs roughly at six to 12 days after fertilization of an egg by sperm. It happens when the egg implants itself in the lining of the uterus, and can be accompanied by mild spotting and some cramping, but not always. Implantation bleeding only happens in about 10 percent of all pregnancies.

Implantation bleeding typically consists of a discharge with a pink or brownish tint. It is often darker than period blood because it takes time for the blood to travel from the uterine wall through the vagina.

The amount of bleeding is relatively light, and will only last a couple of days. For some women, the flow will resemble a very light period, which is why confusion between the 2 occasionally occurs. The majority of women find that menstrual blood is more of a red color and will become heavier within a day or two.

If you are concerned about pregnancy, you can take a home pregnancy test to confirm or your doctor can do an exam for an accurate result.

I hope this helps.

Best,

Kristin

Hello Anon,

Thank you for visiting the EmpowHER community and for sharing your question. It is very common for women to have spotting from time to time. It could have been a super-light menstrual period too. Spotting is no cause for alarm, and the birth control pill can cause some spotting.

Are you having any pain that would cause you to seek medical help? If in doubt, a call to your doctor's office can ease your mind.

I hope this helps!

Best,

Kristin

Why do women have spotting? Or when they wipe there is blood? Or even on there underwear?
From the question i asked earlier could there be a chance of pregancy?
