Q:

I had protected sex about 4 months ago and haven't had my period since. What should I do? I'm not pregnant because I don't have the side affects of pregnancy.

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.

Even though you do not have any pregnancy symptoms, I suggest that you take a pregnancy test just to completely rule out that option.

If you are not pregnant then your period is probably not coming because you have a hormonal imbalance.  This is one of the most common reasons.  The most common treatment for irregular periods is to take birth control.

If you are already on birth control it is probably not hormonal imbalance causing the missed periods.  In this case you will need to speak with your doctor to explore maybe changing to a different birth control or perhaps another treatment.

In general missing periods is not dangerous.  It would only really be important to have a regular period if you were trying to get pregnant.
