Q:

I had unprotected sex on the last day of my period. I took an ECP right after it in a few hours. Now my period is over 50 days late. I did a test 10 days ago and it came out to be negative. I have been worried sick. Am I pregnant?

PS: He did not come inside me. I was bleeding through the sex as it was also my first time but since it was not at all rough I very much doubt that it was my hymen that broke. Just my period flowing. I had withdrawal bleeding 4 days after it. So it was basically like my period extended. Also, i am having PCOS.
I don't feel any pregnancy symptoms as well. Only a couple of days back I had something of a pain in my left ovary. I do have ovulation pains as well.
Does it mean that I did not ovulate at all for one cycle?

I did another test 3 days back and it came out negative again. Considering the timing ( last day of period ), withdrawal method, and an ECP resulting in two negative tests ( both of which were done way past any assumed conception ); what do you think are the odds I might just be pregnant?
Off late I am beginning to feel its more of an OCD than anything else.

Hi Swati,

If the test was negative then it's unlikely you are pregnant. You might want to see your OBGYN and let him know about the changes to your cycle.

Daisy

Hi Daisy.
Thanks for your help. But my periods arent there for over 50 days. I took the test on 43rd day and it came out to be negative. Is it possible that the ECP did not let me ovulate at all for the second cycle?

Hi Swati,

Side effects of any ECP is changes to your cycle and next period. If you took a test and it was negative, it's unlikely you will be pregnant. You might want to see your OBGYN and explain what is happening. He might suggest having blood work or imaging test done to know if you are pregnant.

Best,

Daisy

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  If you had unprotected intercourse during your period, it's unlikely you will be pregnant. Most women with a regular cycle will ovulate during days 11-21 of a cycle. The side effects for most ECP are bleeding, cramping, breast tenderness and changes to your next period. If you are still concerned, you might want to wait until your period is due and take a home pregnancy test. Hope this was helpful?

Best,

Daisy
