I have been trying for 2 1/2 years to conceive. My period this time around is only spotting and started on day 30. I had taken a progesterone test and it's at .3. I now have to have an MRI for other reasons. Is it safe to assume I am not pregnant and it would be safe to have the MRI?

Hi HM2,

Unfortunately a progesterone level of .3 is not indicative of pregnancy. Women who are in days 1-14 of pregnancy will have a progesterone level of at least 1 to 1.5ng/ml.

If you recently took this progesterone test then it is safe to conclude that you are not pregnant and that it is safe to go in for your MRI. For added peace of mind, take a home pregnancy test...they are highly accurate.

Wishing you the best,

Rosa
