I have breast density, does this mean chances of breast cancer are great?

I had breast cancer in Oct of 2005 and went for 2 years of treatment. I most recently had a mammogram...and was sent a letter because I have dense breast and something showed up I need to go back and have more views taken. I have been sweating a lot- I wonder if this is a sign of cancer? Yes I am very concerned and don't feel comfortable going back.

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Excessive sweating can be caused by many things such as exercise, stress, menopause and certain type of cancers. Such as

  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, cancer of the lymphatic system
  • Hodgkin Lymphoma's, a cancer of the immune system
  • Pheochromocytoma, a tumor in the center of the adrenal gland, which causes it to make too much adrenaline
  • Tumors of the nervous and endocrine system
  • Carcinoid tumors, which are slow-growing cancers that usually appear in the gastrointestinal tract and lungs, but also appear in other organs, such as the ovaries and testes

Anon,I can imagine how concerned you might feel about your test. But, it’s important to just wait until your test results.  Hope this was helpful?

Best,

Daisy
