I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism this past spring, and I've been suffering from perimenopausal symptoms for years. As it turns out, the symptoms of hypothyroidism and perimenopause are similar. I fixed my thyroid first (got on Symthroid and got my levels in order), and then I got all of my hormone levels tested. I found out that they were all pretty normal except my free testosterone. Now I'm taking a small daily testosterone bioidentical supplement. I highly recommend Elizabeth Vliet's book, Screaming to be Heard. Michelle Roson, founder of EmpowHER, credits this book with saving her life. It's definitely helped me a ton in the past six months!

Hi Anonymous,
It seems as though you may be suffering from the symptoms of menopause, not necessarily the hypothyroidism (since this is being treated).
If you want to tackle these symptoms, you can check out this article: https://www.empowher.com/menopause/content/you-are-not-crazy%E2%80%A6just-perimenopausal?page=0,0
If a more natural approach is what you're looking for, take a look at Dr. Carrie Jones' article for 10 tips to treat Menopause naturally: https://www.empowher.com/menopause/content/10-tips-treating-menopause-naturally
I hope this helps you,
Rosa
