Hi Anon,

During our teen years it is very common to experience irregular periods. However, this doesn't mean that you should simply disregard your periods/heavy bleeding as being normal. Schedule an appointment with your doctor to look further into this. Possible reasons for an irregular period include: hormone imbalance, problems with the pelvic organs, ovarian cysts, etc. If you do bleed heavily for more than 7 days at a time when you get your period, you are at risk of hemorrhaging and of course, developing anemia due to the excessive blood loss-- so, this is also a good reason to visit your doctor.

Please keep us updated & good luck,

Rosa
