Hello. I am a 30 yearold female. The other day I noticed a marble side lump behind my left nipple. It is very painful to the touch. I have also notice that the breast is very swollen. Almost twice the size as my right.

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what it could be and if I should be worried. Thanks, Chrys Hemmila

Guide

The lump behind your left nipple could be an enlarged lymph node. The swelling may be indicative of an infection.

Mastitis is an infection of the breast tissue that results in breast pain, swelling, warmth and redness of the breast.

Most importantly, make an appointment with your doctor to have a physical examination. An ultrasound or mammogram may be necessary.

Dear Maryann,
Thank you so much for your reply and the info on Mastis. Very informative! I have made an appointment for later this afternoon.
