Hi Sarah,
I think it is very wise to check with your gynecologist if you don;t get a regular period this month. I would not consider the light spotting to be a period. The menstrual cycle is strongly influenced by hormone levels, so your doctor may consider doing some blood tests. Please keep us posted.

Hi Sarah,
As much as I would like to help you, it is impossible for me to give you a cause for your delayed period. How old are you? Young women who have recently begun menstruating and middle-aged women who are going through the perimenopause phase will often experience irregular menstrual cycles. Have there been recent changes in your life? Excessive exercising, such as athletes who are training, and dieting can cause changes in the menstrual cycle. If you do not get your period by August 19, I suggest that you make an appointment to be seen by your gynecologist. He or she is familiar with your medical history, which I am not. A pelvic exam and blood work may be done and help find a reason for the delay. Please keep us posted.

Hi Ms. Maryann, thanks for responding to my concern. I am 21, and no I am not doing any excessive exercise, i am definitely not on training, or dieting. Since this is the first time I ever missed my period, I also figured I can meet up with my gynecologist if I still dont have my period on the 19th. Do you think the light spotting on the 14th of july can be considered as my period?

Hi, I have the same question. I was suppose to have my period on the 19th of july but it never came. I took 2 pregnancy test and both results were negative. I had like a very light spotting on the 14th of july, what does the spotting on the 14th means? should i be worried? i have always been regular and even when i am under stress and pressure my period would come regularly. what do you think is wrong with me? i have been more emotional lately, i feel tingling in my nipples like every once in a while, i feel bloated as well but im definitely not constipated, oh and i eat more for some reason i feel like im always hungry or craving for something.

hope you get back to me!

Hi Jessica

Thanks for your post!

There could be no real "reason" why you skipped your period, in terms of you having some sort of condition that would cause this. If this has happened just once, it could have been stress or over-exercise or even no known reason. Even doing something like moving home or starting a new job/college can cause it. Has anything changed in your life in the past two months?

If you miss next month again, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor once more.

I hope this has helped and thanks for writing!
