Q:

I have vaginal discomfort. Not sure what it could be. It is the only symptom.

I recently became sexually active, about three weeks ago. My husband and I have been separated for about two years, so it had been a long time. I started feeling a little pain/discomfort and figured it was because it had been so long. A couple days later, pain with urination, small amount of blood when I urinate, burning sensation. So I treated this as a UTI. I drank a ton of water, took some airborne for my immune system. I felt better a few days later so I stopped the program. Two days later it came back. This time I went for a week. Water and airborne. Then for two days more, I took a UTI supplement with d mannose powder that I bought at whole foods. UTI was cleared. Now I just have this persistant irritation. Don't know what it could be or what I should do.

I had to comment on this since your situation is very similar to situation my daughter just experienced. My daughter was having the same symptoms and had also just recently become sexually active. I knew from her symptoms it was either a yeast infection or UTI. I started her on an otc yeast infection cream and got her to the doctor. With a urine test, we confirmed it was UTI and they started her on antibiotics but the doctor said it's good she had started the yeast infection because very often the antibiotics will cause a yeast infection. It's helpful to know there are otc natural options to combat UTI. That being said once you get rid of the UTI, the ph balance in your uterus is off and a yeast infection often follows. I would be curious to what other otc natural supplements there are out there for both UTI and yeast infections?

Thank you for responding. Could you please keep us updated on your pap results? This may be something that other women are experiencing as well and your story may help others also dealing with the same symptom.
