Hi,
Breastfeeding is the biggest factor in determining how soon after delivery your body will resume its menstrual cycle. The timing is different for every woman. Nursing mothers who breastfeed exclusively can have a delay in their periods for one year or even longer. None-nursing mothers can resume their menstrual cycle as early as one month following delivery or it can take 2 to 3 months. A postpartum examination and visit with your obstetrician is a good opportunity to determine the cause for a delay in your period, if breastfeeding is not the possible reason.
