I have just turned 15. I live at home with just my dad so i dont know who else to ask. What do normal girls do? Should i have a shower each day? Change my clothes each day? Wear makeup? Shave my legs or down there? Does it matter what i wear- heels, pumps, boots, dresses, jeans, etc..? Do i use towels or tampons? I just want some advice from some ladies of how a girl/ woman should be

Im 23 years old and have three nieces that are 15. Its all up to you on how u want to be. I personally shower twice a day morning and afternoon. I used to wear tampons when i was younger, and now feel more comfotable wearing pads, unless an ocassion occurs. My nieces dont use tampons, they say it feels weired. As if what type of shoes to wear it is all up to you. I suggest to go try on some and see how u feel in them and if u can walk in them. I try to look at what other girls are wearing to get ideas on what is in style and what to wear.

Hi,
Thanks for asking us...this is a fun question to answer!

The answers to your questions really are personal preference, and hopefully this does help you feel confident that whatever you choose is a good choice! If you are worried about fitting-in at school, you can "do as the Romans do" and dress similarly to other girls your age..or you can "make a statement" and be different. As you can imagine, you will receive different responses depending on your choices! Same with make-up and other personal choices.

As far as how often to shower, it also depends on your physical activity level. Many teenagers will shower daily, especially if they are involved in any type of sports or other exercise/physical activity during the day or evening.

If you are interested in what "most" teenage girls use during their periods, it depends on your personal preference and comfort, in your choice between pads and tampons. Girls who swim during their period will most likely wear a tampon, but some girls do not like the feeling or are too nervous or have cultural beliefs that prevent them from using a tampon...which all is perfectly fine! Many girls and woman like to wear pads as they are more comfortable. Probably most/many girls and woman use a combination: tampon during the day (if you choose) and a pad at night.

Dear Anon,

This is a very subjective question. All girls don't act the same, so it's really best to do what makes you comfortable. Some girls enjoy a shower every day, while others will shower 5 days out of the week and only wash their hair 3 of those days. Most of us will, however, change our clothes every day.

At 15, some girls like to wear make-up, others prefer a more natural look. I have, personally, never been a fan of make-up. I find that I look better without it. If you choose to wear make-up at 15, I wouldn't recommend anything cakey or clownish-- you're still a baby and a very subtle hint of make-up should be more than enough.

Heels, sneakers, sandals-- this is entirely up to you. Just as your friend may love wearing her heels, you may be more comfortable in your converse sneakers.

I completely understand where your question came from-- you want a woman's opinion on things. Do you have any friends from school that you can talk to about "girl talk"? If you confide in someone your age, you may not feel so "lost".

Go with your gut and with what makes you happy, you will be absolutely fine. If there is anything else we can answer for you-- we'll be here.
