me and my boyfriend of 4 years have been having "safe" sex for the most part. i got off my period ended. 5 days later i missed 2 pills in week 1 and took all three on the next day that i was supposed to. i had cramping and started spotting the day i took all three pills and my boobs were extremely sore. in those 2 days that i did not take the pills we had unprotected sex, one time injaculating inside me. is it possible for me to become pregnant? i have been on birth control for 6+ years and got pregnant back in 2003. i am now 21. i am still taking my birth control. if i am infact pregnant when can i test to know if i am so i can stop taking my birht contol?

i am on Ortho Tri-Cyclen what can i do to find out if i am too early. if i am i do not want to harm the baby because of the birth control. can anyone help me please!!!!! it has been 3 days since i took all 3. i started my period july 15-19 the last day i took the pill was july 23. i skipped 24 & 25 and took all 3 the 26th. and it has been 3 days since. when can i find out if i am or not?

yes, i took all 3 pills at the same time and started bleeding with in 20 mins after the pills had dissolved. i am still bleeding as we speak. i am still on the same pack of pills also. do i still need to throw the pills away? well back in 2003 when i got pregnant i had just tunred 15 and was still in school, so my mom made the decsion for me to not have it, which i regret from this day. I DO want kids some day, but i want to be financially stable before i take on the challenge of a new life. so i can buy it what ever it needs/wants.
i am also still having the same symptoms as i was last week. could i possibly be pregnant? i am supposed to be starting my period in two weeks, but now that i am bleeding like i am on my period, will i even have a period? should i take a Preg. test? what are some things i need to know?

Even if you are pregnant, you wouldn't know until about 6 weeks later. I took a pregnancy test 1 week after missing my period and it was negative. I went back in a week later and it was positive. Wait until next month to take your test. If you are pregnant you usually will see spotting not a heavy cycle. The heavy bleeding may be due to you taking three pills in one day. You should take no more than 2. Your sore breasts may be from the extra hormones the pills are giving you. You can stop taking your pills to be on the safe side but make sure you have sex with a condom while you wait.

From what you describe, it sounds unlikely that you would be pregnant. You just missed 2 pills, correct? And, instead of "doubling-up" like the instructions tell you to, you took 3 pills in one day. (wow!) That would explain cramping, soreness, spotting, nausea. Week 1 is the worst time to miss pills, however, as you have been "hormone-free" for the previous 7 days. A quick call to your doctor's office wouldn't hurt to ask for their recommendation. You would not know if you are pregnant until a missed period.

For future:
Do you have an extra copy of the instructions that came with your birth control pills? It sounds like it is VERY important that you discuss these instructions step-by-step with one of the nurses at your doctor's office. I know---they do not take much time to go over the instructions, and it is important to advocate for yourself and have them take the time. Also, you can ask if their is a Patient Health Educator who can demonstrate how to take the pills consistently and correctly every time. Do you have a Planned Parenthood near you? They would be able to help, as you have already experienced one pregnancy, and sounds like you do not want to be pregnant again. Please learn every step and "trouble-shooting" step to take if you miss a pill. Never do you take 3 at a time; you can take 2 one day, then 2 the next day. If you miss 3 in a row, you typically throw out the pack and start a new one. Again....ask a Health Professional to walk through this with you.

so if i am pregnant...do i stop take my birth control now? or do i wait to stop taking it untill i find out for sure if i am or not? so lets say for futire reference, i happen to miss another 2 pills, (hopefully it will never happen again) do not triple up...? do i start a new pack in the day i usually start a new pack?
my boobs are more sore now, then when i am menstrating. i am very emotional & moody,
is there something i can do so my boobs aren't as sore?

Dear Anon,

Yes, there is a possibility you may be pregnant, however, you will not be likely to find out until you are late on your period. If you're late, take a pregnancy test.

Birth control pills are very strong pills with adverse reactions and side effects. Once you have missed more than 2 days, you should not "triple up". At that point you just continue your pack regularly while using an additional form of protection (such as condoms).

Good Luck
