I take my birth control pills like clockwork. I have never once missed a pill and have been taking the pill for about a year now, (I am 18). I missed my last active pill in my pack and was a day ahead on my placebos and didn't realize until my 3rd placebo and by then it was too late to make up the pill. I got my period, and after it ended, I had sex-- with a condom and it didn't break. I then, started a new pack on Sunday, so I have only taken 2 pills of my new pack. We had sex last night, with a condom, but there was still pre-ejaculatory fluid while we were fooling around., but again the condom didn't break. What are my chances that I ovulated since I messed up my pack, and what are my chances of pregnancy?

Hello Anonymous,
Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for asking for our help.
Let me put your mind at ease. There was no risk for ovulating or conceiving when you had intercourse last night. You were protected because your partner was wearing a condom, which didn't break, and you had already taken two active hormone containing pills from your new pack. The active pills protected you by preventing ovulation.

But was there a chance I may have ovulated before then when I had sex? I had sex Saturday and didn't have any pills to take, and didn't start the new pack until the next evening. Also, what are the chances of getting pregnant if he had any pre-ejaculatory fluid on his hands and then fingered me? Thank you.

Hello Anonymous,
I do not think there was a chance that you may have ovulated before having sex on that Saturday. Likewise, no risk for pregnancy with fingering with possible pre ejaculated on his fingers.
If your next period doesn't start when you are taking the inactive pills, take a pregnancy test.
