I have had diarrhea for the past two months and this morning I woke up with swelling under my tongue. I have been to several doctors and none of them could tell me what was wrong with me. I have also had two rounds of blood and stool teat which have not turned up anything. I dont know if it matters but I am 40 years old.

Hi Anon,
Sometimes we can be our own best doctor when helping with diagnosis. Have you done any traveling lately? Anything change in your life? Are you taking a new medication? Change in diet? Extra stress? Really try to think about when the changes started to occur.
If it's diarrhea and other gastrointestinal discomfort, a gastroenterologist might be best to see.
Since the tongue swelling has just begun this morning, it's hard to determine if that is an additional symptom that is linked to the diarrhea, or a symptom of the diarrhea. Tongue swelling could be caused by being dehydrated from the diarrhea.
If it's only swelling under the tongue, that may be caused by an infection, or possibly a swollen glad. Perhaps with another symptom, it may be easier for a doctor to figure out.
Make sure you are eating healthy and clean, drinking plenty of water, resting, and really taking care of yourself right now. Keep us updated.
Best,
Danielle.
