Hello, and thank you for sharing your question with the community.  I'd love to give you some information on the subject.

First, I think it's important to mention that withdrawal bleeding is normal after you stop taking birth control pills because of the drop in hormone intake.

The best way to know if you are pregnant or not is to first find out when you should be having your next period based on the date of the first day of your last period.  Your next period should start around that same time.  If you miss your next period, or it is irregular, you should take a pregnancy directly following.

If the test is negative, it could be because you are not pregnant and your period was irregular due to stopping the pills.  It could also mean that you are pregnant, but the hCG hormones were still too low to detect.

If you are trying to become pregnant than a negative pregnancy test is nothing to worry about.  If you do not want to become pregnant, I suggest that you continue taking birth control.  You should consult your doctor on the best way to restart your pills.

Directions will depend on where you are in your menstrual cycle and what type of birth control you are taking.

I hope this helps.  Let us know if you have any more questions.
