I need help. I am so scared. My boyfriend and had sex on Aug 5 but we used a condom and it broke and he came inside me but it wasn't really all in there was some on my legs and stuff because he pulled out as soon as he figured the condom was broken and it was around 9-10pm. That next morning i took the plan b pill( the morning after pill). Yes I had side effects of the pill like cramps and dizziness and breast tenderness and stuff but the bad thing is that it was on my fertile week and the next day was my ovulation day. Well that's what my period tracker says, and well I don't know if I took the pill in time. But just on Aug 21 i woke up bleeding and i took a home pregnancy test and it came out negative. At first the bleeding was heavy and had blood clots and now it is bright red and like brown stuff and barely coming out. It just ended Aug 25th but it keeps like coming and going and then when it comes barely anything comes out. I did research and looked up ways i can tell and i just can't tell what's

going on and I'm so scared. I need help. I know plan b can cause bleeding and can change your cycle so I don't know if that was just from the plan b or it was implantation bleeding, and that my period may just becoming late.

It ended aug 25 and it barely was thing it was just like spotting. So thats why I was wondering if it was implation bleeding or plan b because i did research and its so hard to tell the difference between them.

Hello Love315,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I am glad you reached out to us with your concern. I think I can help put your mind at ease.

The bleeding proves that you are not pregnant. Plan B contains a high dose of the synthetic hormone called levonorgestrel. Levonorgestrel is a progestin. Exactly how it works is not known. It may prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation, altering transport of sperm or eggs to prevent fertilization, or altering the lining of the uterus to prevent implantation should fertilization occur.

Love315, it is possible that Plan B increased the flow of your period. Just try to relax and wait for the bleeding to stop. This is not implantation bleeding. But, a heavier flow, which is a side effect of the pill. If you are still concerned, please reach out to your gynecologist.
