Poppy seeds have a very small concentration of morphine and codeine. These are probably not enough to give you the effects of what heroin would do to you, however it is very possible for it to be positive on a drug test. To eliminate false positives caused by codeine or poppy seeds, there are cut-off levels that will basically allow a certain level of these "Drugs" in your system. This means that if you decide to have a poppy seed bagel in the morning, you may have traces of it in your urine but not enough to make your result positive.
