Hi Kellyev
Thanks for your question!
Calcium is actually quite important in pregnancy - and unborn babies will absorb a woman's calcium stories if they need it so you need to make sure your vitamin D and calcium intake is high - as well as getting a little sunshine every day.
You should be on some sort of regime now, if you have been diagnosed with rickets. Can you tell us what you are taking? You may be able to simply continue with this or perhaps increase it slightly while planning to get pregnant or pregnant but your doctor will be your best adviser since she will know the severity of your situation. And you'll also need to bear in mind any other medication you are on.
Please check out our detailed Rickets page here for more info on the causes, symptoms, treatments etc. http://www.empowher.com/media/reference/rickets-and-osteomalacia#causes
I assume you are not yet pregnant - just thinking about it?
