Hi, I'm 17 and Im wondering what going on with my body. I ve never had sex and haven't even gotten my first kiss. I think can safely rule out pregnancy. Right now, I'm dealing with college applications (as a senior in Highschool) and also helping out at home (my mother has cancer and it's taken a toll on her, my father has issues and hes also an older gentleman). Though I don't know the symptoms of stress, do you think this may be it? Could it be something else?

Hi, charryanony.

Thanks for reaching out to EmpowHer today!

Stress can most definitely play a part in your period(s) being delayed or irregular as well as other things - certain medications, illness, excessive exercise, a very low body weight, not eating enough calories or a hormone imbalance.

Some symptoms of stress can be - depression or anxiety, low energy, headaches, upset stomach, general aches & pains, tense muscles, insomnia.

If you miss another month, make an appointment with your doctor to be sure nothing else is going on.

Best,
Helena
