Hello Anonymous,
Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for coming to us with your concern.
If you have had unprotected sex since your last period, there is a chance that you are pregnant. When did you take the pregnancy test that should a negative result?
You have two options. You could repeat the home pregnancy test- checking the expiration date on the package, reading and following the directions carefully, and test using the first urine of the morning.
You could contact your gynecologist to have a blood pregnancy test ordered and done. A blood pregnancy test is more accurate than the urine test.
Levels of hCG, which is the hormone produced only during pregnancy, can be detected in blood about 11 days following conception and in urine about 12 to 14 days after conception.

yes, I have had unprotected sex since my last period. I have taken a test about 2 weeks ago , which was negative. I went to the clinic to have the test done. It came out negative , the nurse has asked me to come back in 2 weeks for a repeat test , saying I may be testing a bit early. What could be the cause of my period being late if not pregnant.?

Hello Anonymous,
No need to think about that now. Return in two weeks to be re-tested.
If the test results are negative, the physician at the clinic may chose to order other blood tests to check hormone levels. A hormonal imbalance can cause a late or missed period.

Hello Anonymous,
I do not know what it could be. I suggest you schedule an appointment to be examined.
Do you see that your abdomen is protruding or growing in size? Do you feel a mass in your abdomen?
If you have had unprotected sex since your last period, have missed your next period, and had a positive pregnancy test, then you are pregnant.
