I'd like to know details, I know I'll have a catheter but what else can I expect?

Christine - Please don't apologize. I know I did not make myself clear with my question. But I'll tell you, the link you provided me was helpful - thank you.

Hi Melissa,
I'm sorry the information wasn't quite what you were looking for. I personally haven't had this type of surgery, but I can tell you what a c-section is like. That was major abdominal surgery that I definitely had pain after, used the pain reliever they gave me for at least a week afterward, and had to limit my activity. I imagine your experience may be similar at least initially. Here is more detailed information about the procedure (depending on the type of surgery your doctor is doing), and what to expect. Hope it helps more than the previous information:

Please let us know if you have any more questions, or how else we can help you to advocate for yourself.

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your question and for finding EmpowHER. This definitely is a question you can ask your docotor, but here is an experience from one woman who had this procedure:
Myomectomy Recovery
From what I have read, I understand recovery can be from anywhere between 2 to 6 weeks. Everyone is different, and recovers at a different rate.
Good luck and please let us know how you are doing after the procedure. Your experience may be able to help someone else.

Hi - Didn't realize I was sending that anonymously - sorry!

I did ask my doctor, I guess I was a little vague with my question. I know every woman is different and every woman's pain level is different. What I should have asked was:

Were you able to walk up/down stairs?
How about bending down?
Were you in pain after surgery?
I've never had children so if there is someone who had a c-section then had to have this surgery - which was worse?

Thank you,
Melissa
